Actor Salman Khan appeared in a court here today during last arguments in a case versus him for the supposed poaching of two black bucks in village Kankani on October 2, 1998.
According to Khan’s counsel H M Saraswat, the accused needs to remain present in the court throughout final arguments and they had been seeking an exemption for the actor till now.
“Today, we were present in the court throughout the final arguments,” said Saraswat after Khan appeared prior to the chief judicial magistrate.During the arguments, Khan appeared to be a bit uneasy and psychological sometimes however remained silent, inning accordance with advocates present in the court.The last arguments in the Kankani poaching case started in the trial court on September 13. The prosecution counsel had explained the area of alleged poaching citing the declarations of witnesses Poonam Chand and Chhoga Ram and the post-mortem report.While submitting his arguments, Saraswat today ran the video recording of the declarations of Poonam Chand
and drew the attention of the court to the “contradiction” in his declarations taken by the investigating officer and the declarations offered by the witness. “Videography of the statements of Poonam Chand plainly showed that the main
noting the statements had been copying them from a paper resting on the table next to him,”argued Khan’s counsel Saraswat.Earlier, the star had appeared in the district and sessions court on August 4 for filing bail bonds after the state challenged his acquittal in the case under Arms Act by the high court.
